Evaluation Question 4
Planning and Research
For the planning stage we used Youtube to look at other music videos so that we can learn typical conventions associated in music videos, such as the artist is shown performing, the lyrics of the song influence what is shown in the video, the pace of editing fits the pace of the music, and the codes of dress reflect the mood of the song. We incorporated these conventions in our music video. We also made a blog so that we can record daily of how media coursework is progressing.
Construction
During the construction of our music video we used a Sony Video camera to film the sequences, during the "House of Fun" sequence we used disco lights to create a party effect showing that the character in the music video had grown up and was now at a party. The Mise-en-scene of the character in his house wearing young clothes such as the party hat, badge and glasses shows that he is too young for his age with the props such as party rings and banners reinforces this. The present of a childs book reflects both this and the craziness of the band themselves. The use of clothes flying on the character showed his development into a more mature man. The clothes were edited on using a reverse editing on Imovie HD on an Apple Mac computer (which we used for all of the editing).
Evaluation
I think that what worked particularly well was the use of editing as the song was cut well to the music and the scene where the clothes all fly onto the character is really effective. The Close Up shots of the disco lights during the "house of Fun" sequence are really effective in settign both the mood and the atmosphere for the song and video. If Anything could be improved I would say having more people in that sequence as it would establish the sequence as a party which wasnt particularly clear. Also having someone running up to the camera with "House of Fun" on a piece of paper may have been a bit obvious and so that maybe could have been done more effectively. The cinematography is good at the start with a variety of shots to fit into the fast paced song, however the lip synching could have been more in time with the song. I think the music video worked well within the style of music and gave an appropriate representation of the artist.

Evaluation Question 2-annotating the advert
Annotation of our advert:
This is a shot by shot annotation of our music advert, with text under the images:
In the image above we have the record label which is "stiff records", we also see their logo on our digipak. we have the logo of "itunes" where the album will be available and the time it will be available from, meaning the audience can access it as they know when its available. The above images relate to the digipak as well.
We also have the release date on the advert so that the audience will know when it is released.
Here we have the name of the band in bold lettering with the white colour making it stand out against the purple background
Here we have the album title in big bold lettering to make it stand out, the bold purple background colour shows the bright and bold nature of the band and the image they are trying to create.

Here we have an image of the artists performing they look like they are enjoying themselves and are wearing bright coloured clothing to show the bright and colourful nature of the band and therefore it seems appropriate to use on our advert. We took this image from our music video in order to connect the music video and the advert.
Here we have positive reviews by two high profile music magazines who would typically review a band like Madness, with stars (out of 5) to show they liked it and a comment as you find with usual adverts.
Here we have a shot of the artist as he walks down the road wearing bright coloured clothing, which is purple fitting in with the purple colour we have used as our background colour for the advert. We took this image from our music video making a link between the advert and the video.
Evaluation question 2
This image has been taken directly from the music video andit is used to show of he main actor of the whole music video. This specific shot show the main character in his final maturing stage. We used this shot because, we believed that it would relate to the audience because everyone in onestage of there life has to mature.
The track list fits in with our music video as it compliments the mise en scene with the blue colours and the formal font which compliments the adult side of the protagonist. It also follows typical digipak conventions as it gives the names of all the songs and puts them in a numbered order.
The imagery used in this part of the digipak uses clips from the music video to portray the theme and genre of the album in the digipak. This specific clip enables the consumer to see the whole band in one image and they would recognise it, as it a main scene whilst the lead singer is singing the chorus. It also contains typical conventions of a digipak as it uses imagery from the music video.
This section of the digipak give general and artist information to give a background and insight into the artists and how they came about to use the genre. This allows the consumer to learn more about there favourite artist.
The CD art uses the same font as other madness albums to keep the traditional madness theme. It uses typical conventions such as artist title and and album name.
The back page of the digipak contain lyrics from the song House of Fun. It also contains the Madnesses record label and the barcode for scanning recognition. This page contains typical conventions of a digipak as the record label and barcode are required.
I believe that the whole digipak contains typical convention for a digipak, it follows a set scheme, none of the colour clash, all the pictures used relate to the music video that we created.

- The shots used were often close ups, emphasising emotions. This shows the protagonist enjoying themselves, and shows the strenuous steps young adults go to, to become involved in a group of friends.
In this picture you can see the protagonist under the influence of smoking, this shows the vulnerability young adults face to be part of a social group.
